This work was part of my MFA thesis. Artist Statement: These are narratives about American society using photographs I make in museums. Social history, like what is preserved in museums, is the cultural fabric of society. I find that the visual objects presented to the public give insight to their shared history, revealing the very essence of what we think it means to be Americans; our values, beliefs and dreams. My work explores these culture storehouses, frequently unearthing oddly humorous insight into Americanism. With museums as my research center, I make photographs that serve as a double mirror, showing us who we are, how we see our world and what influences have led our society down its present path.
